Scholarship for Kaytlyn!

Dear family and friends!

I hope this letter finds you well.  looking back at 2019 and all its blessings I would love to share a few highlights with you.

After months of researching and visiting many different high schools in the valley, my mother and I decided to apply to a couple of private schools that offer law studies in their curriculum that could help me get closer to my career dream of becoming a Criminal Justice Lawyer. I am accepted to attend Xavier College Preparatory for high school in 2020.

We found out Arizona offers a great opportunity to its taxpayers to allocate a portion of their tax liabilities towards education without any out-of-pocket cost to them. It is a wonderful law that allows taxpayers to decide how their tax dollars are spent.  This was great news!  I am so excited to know there is a way to help me attend a school that best prepares me for my future.

This is a dollar-for-dollar tax credit that directly reduces your Arizona tax liabilities.  My mother (Karina) allocated her taxes to help another student since the law won’t allow her to redirect it towards her own child (me, Kaytlyn).

*The Arizona 2020 Tax Credit Maximums is $2,365 if married filing jointly/ & $1,183 if filing single, or your actual tax liability, whichever is less.  You can contribute online here through April 15, 2021, or print and fill out the form here and mail it in with a check. STO4KIDZ will email you a receipt for your taxes.

STO4KIDZ accepts contributions throughout the year. Contributions must be made prior to filing your taxes but no later than April 15.

You can contribute up to the combined maximum of the Original ARS 43-1089 and the Switcher ARS 43-1089.03, or your Arizona tax liability, whichever is less, and receive a dollar-for-dollar Arizona state tax credit. If you have no liability, you cannot receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit.

You must first contribute the maximum to the Original tuition tax credit program, in order to contribute the additional amount.

When you are filing your taxes, you can claim the tax credit by using the Arizona forms 301 and 323 along with state income tax forms. However, if you contribute to the Switcher program, you also need to file a 348 form. Also, use AZ Schedule A to claim the federal deduction. All these forms and more can be found at azdor.gov.
